About Chris Daynes
Born in 1946 at Hove, Sussex, Chris Daynes lives in Tenterden,
Kent. He graduated from Leeds College of Art in 1970 with an Honours
degree in Fine
Art.
He has
been
painting full time since 2001, and has exhibited at the Royal Academy
Summer Exhibition and in numerous mixed and one-man shows in the
South East of England. He says, ‘In my paintings I explore
the language of colour and design, building on the vital process
of looking and drawing. I take risks with the paint, building layers
of colour adjustment until I feel I have achieved a level of harmony – an
intuitive process – just seeing where the paint takes me.
Some paintings might work relatively quickly if I am lucky – others
may take a long time to resolve. It’s an ongoing process.’
